Ex Hastings Boys' High School, Trevor gained his BCA degree at Victoria University. He began his career in Wellington, then on to London, before returning to lead the Audit Division of Brown Webb in Hastings in 1975. In 1983 he switched his focus to accounting, taxation and business management.
After terms as Secretary and Chairman of the Hawke's Bay branch of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants, Trevor was awarded Fellowship of the Institute in 1996.
Trevor is also involved with several community organisations, including the Lindisfarne College Council and the Hastings Karamu Rotary Club.
Leisure activities for Trevor include jet skiing, boating activities and gardening.
